Food addiction
Do you have a food addiction? Do you eat when you are stressed out? When you are sad? When you are bored? Even when you are happy?
Compulsive eating can be very distressing
Compulsive overeating can be a deeply disturbing thing to do. Deep down you know that food doesn't help but you still do it anyway.
You reach for those chocolate bars to stuff down your emotions, to forget the bad day at work or to help you feel better about a relationship that's not working, or to take time out for yourself away from the kids, or to feel better about your body, your job, or life in general.
Eating doesn't help
The whole process of choosing what you are going to eat can be exciting and the pleasure of eating overwhelming. You wouldn't do it if you didn't get something out of it. Unfortunately eating large quantities of food is a double edged sword. On one hand it seems to help us feel better, momentarily anyway. But afterwards we are filled with remorse, guilt and even self hatred for our lack of control.
The cost of our compulsive overeating far outweighs the benefits but during those few moments we are eating it is really hard to see that.

My favorite book
To help with food addiction and weight control
This is my favorite book that I keep by my bedside for regular inspiration; 'If not dieting then what' By Dr Rick Kausman. Rick Kausman is a medical doctor who is recognised as the Australian pioneer of the non dieting approach to healthy weight management. This book is for any one who is unhappy with their weight, confused about food and fed up with diets that don't work. An awesome book that has made a huge difference to my life and helped me to overcome my food addiction, become a normal eater and reach the weight I am most comfortable with. I thoroughly recommend it over any other book I have read on this subject. Click on book for more information.
